Digital Learning is any type of learning that is accompanied by technology or by instructional practice that makes effective use of technology – at the fingertips of our young “digital citizens”.
Coding languages are taught with a variety of age levelled robots (BeeBot, Ozobot, Edison, Sphero, Lego Spike) as well as animation coding with Scratch 3.0 or Scratch Junior. After school classes are available each term for Year 4 only – coding in Minecraft Education, robots and drones.
The VCAA website has framework for the curriculum including the 3 strands of Digital Systems & Security, Creating Digital Solutions and Data, Information & Privacy. Foundation to Year 4 students attend weekly specialist Digital Technologies lessons in a Windows 11 lab with PC’s, iPads and a variety of robots. Years 4/5/6 have a Technologies@School program with their own device and agreed apps. Year 5/6 students attend a specialist Media lesson each week learning about internet safety, photography, movie making and advanced Minecraft Education coding.
Each classroom has an Smartboard or projector/screen connecting to AppleTV. Edupass usernames and passwords allow students to access MS365 apps both at home and at school on all devices. Downloads of Microsoft apps on MS365 are all free when enrolled in a Victorian Government school.
