Digital Technologies are electronic tools, systems, devices and resources that generate, store or process data. Well known examples include: social media, online games, multimedia and mobile phones. Digital Learning is any type of learning that uses technology and can happen across all curriculum learning areas. The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority website provides the framework for the curriculum. At Brentwood Park Primary School, students attend weekly specialist Digital Technologies lessons in a Windows PC lab, as well as developing digital literacy and media studies in the classroom with iPads. Year 5/6 students have a BYOD iPad program with their own device and agreed apps. Each classroom has an IWB with Apple TV. The Digital Technologies lab houses robots and students learn Block Coding – BeeBots, Edison, Sphero and CodeBugs. The 3 strands of Digital Technologies includes: Digital Systems, Creating Digital Solutions and Data & Information. Each student has an Edupass log in which allows them to access Office 365 apps both at home/school by clicking https://www.edustar.vic.edu.au/o365. Families can download the Microsoft apps on Office 365 free on any device using these log in details provided when enrolled in a Victorian Government school.
